How The Program is Structured

What You Will Learn in the MSW

Gain Real-World Experience

The first half of the LSU online MSW is known as the "generalist year” and covers key concepts and theories within the field. This year also offers an internship component where students can gain real-world experience. The second half, known as the “specialized year,” includes courses in theory and treatment.

This degree is ideal for students who seek to tackle sensitive social issues and help people improve their lives. The MSW program covers fundamental issues in social work theory, including topics like child welfare, diversity and oppression, and substance abuse treatment.

Accelerate your career with 100% online coursework through this CSWE-accredited Master of Social Work from LSU. Place-based internship opportunities enable you to gain relevant field experience in your geographic area.
